JulieJulie has been working in eye care since 1993. She started her career in Boise Idaho. A job change for her husband brought her back to Washington where she was certified as a CPOT. She enjoys getting to know patients and providing everyone with a positive and enjoyable experience here at Family Vision Care.

KariAfter starting my career with Family Vision Care at the front desk, I quickly began to develop interest in the medical side of the field. As a technician, I’m able to assist patients in a different aspect while helping the doctor provide the highest level of vision care by staying current on skills, procedures, medications and patient education. I’m currently working on obtaining my certification to become a Certified Paraoptometric and plan to continue my education until I am a Certified Paraoptometric Technician. I love the everchanging technology in the eye care industry which helps us to provide up-to-date care to our patients. Whether you have questions regarding your treatment plan, contacts or even billing, I’ll do my best to ensure you and your family receive the best service possible and leave the practice with a great experience every time.

I moved to Yakima a little over 10 months ago from Alaska; I feel very fortunate to work at a place like this; I have wonderful coworkers who have taught me so much about the optometry field. I also enjoy working with customers, helping with checking in and scheduling appointments.

Since starting here, I have started helping out with glasses orders and adjustments. I have enjoyed learning something new and getting to work with my hands. I also help checking insurances and that’s nice learning about how payments and insurance plans work. I like how we strive to find the best way to help patients not only with checking the health of the eye, but also how best to help with patients navigate the financial side of the business.

MellissaMy background in customer service and marketing made my position here at Family Vision Care a natural merge. Not only had my entire family followed Dr. Copeland from Costco for our own treatment, but his and Dr. Ricks’ philosophy for patient care really made an impact on me. The kind of passion for people that I experienced here was the main reason I decided to pursue this position. Coming from 8 years of customer service and retail marketing experience in Seattle, I have found my interactions with the community of the Yakima Valley so refreshing. The ability to connect with patients on a more personal level has been really eye-opening (pun intended!) for me and a great and rewarding experience so far. The larger Spanish-speaking community here also allows me to use and continue to develop my bilingual skills.

KimAfter starting at the front desk in January of 2016, Kimberly quickly learned that the eye care industry was the right fit for her. Once she received her Bachelor’s Degree at Seattle Pacific University in 2014, she was unsure if she would be able to find a career that would both allow her to help people while still having fun when doing so. She worked as a store supervisor at Vans while in school and really enjoyed the retail experience. After relocating to Yakima, she began working here as a receptionist, and quickly used her work ethic and drive to transfer into the optical department. She is now working on her certification and couldn’t be more excited. Kimberly strives for excellent customer service and will stop at nothing to ensure patient satisfaction. Being able to work in a retail-like environment, and helping people with something as essential as their vision, is exactly the kind of career she was looking for. Kimberly is eager to keep expanding her knowledge and to continue both personal and professional growth.
